This interesting CD and book come to enrich the publications dedicated to quality violin making. While Dynamic’s The Legacy of Cremona featured one musician, Ruggiero Ricci, playing 18 different violins, here we have several violinists playing instruments made by a single well-known contemporary luthier. The opportunity to hear the sound of high-quality contemporary instruments is further enhanced by the cultural content of this release, which includes three world première recordings: Tre Gradi dell’Invocazione for violin and piano by Carlo Galante; and Heimat Terra for violin and cello, and Fiddle Files for solo violin by Giovanni Sollima. Also included is a full-size poster of Anne Sophie Mutter’s instrument.
