| Product Code: IDIS 6577 | | Category: IDIS | | Composer: Various Composers | | Title: BERNSTEIN CONDUCTS TCHAIKOVSKY, BEETHOVEN, RAVEL | | Price: 9.68 € | Performer: Leonard Bernstein, conductor New York Philharmonic Orchestra | | Media: 1 CD | STRONG POINTS: - It may seem strange but the live discography of Leonard Bernstein is not particularly rich as we may expect. - In the light of that the soundtracks accounts which IDIS has been releasing in the last two years have certainly a bigger relevance and value. - Some of these recordings contain genuine and extraordinary rarities. - For instance, it is the case with this superb Tchaikovsky Symphony no.4 , which has been live recorded in New York in 1958 with the New York Philharmonic. It is swinging, dramatic and filled with a painful and unquiet Russian spirit. - But also beautiful are the other two selections which complete the CD. They have been recorded in 1959 during a concert tour in Russia. Within them a sensational version of La Valse of Ravel stands really out and it has been one of the most favourite pieces of the American director. | Track List: PETER ILIICH TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony no. 4 in F minor op. 36 1.
