PROGRAM INFORMATION
The present CD is the second of a series of three which are featuring the full edition of Beethoven’s concerts recorded by Rudolf Serkin in Italy during the summer 1958 with two different RAI orchestras.
As well as in the first CD (Idis 6595) which contained the Concerts no.1 e 4, the listener will recognize here the gift for technique and a clear, clean and sheeny sound. Already before the coming of philology in the performance, Serkin started to perform Beethoven free from rhetorical forms and excessive gestures.
Also the two italian symphonic orchestras in fact seem to be excited by the presence of such an interpreter.
Also the two brilliant Italian symphonic orchestras in fact seem to be excited by the presence of such an interpreter and without missing from their ”Mediterranean” specificity they played with an enviable precision and conviction.
